Barbara J. (Soutchek) Wheaton

Barbara (Soutchek) Wheaton, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning (Sept. 12, 2017) at the age of 65 after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis as well as renal cancer in recent years.  Born Oct. 27, 1951, she was the only child of the late Theodore “Frank” and Katherine (Poter) Soutchek.  Barbara had worked as a Registered Nurse for Dr. Conrad in Colchester, as well as Lebanon Pines and the Wm. W. Backus Hospital.  In her spare time, she enjoyed tag sales, especially searching for antiques and collectables.  Barbara was also an animal lover and enjoyed the company of dogs and her Siamese cats.  She leaves her cousins (and their spouses), Linda (Dan) Petrofsky (and their son, John) of Lebanon, Sally (Tony) Figueroa of Lebanon, Mary (John) Ski [Przyborowski] of Fishers Island, NY and Joni Kolipano of Virginia; her dear friends, Marilyn (Dennis) Wengloski, Joan Hageman, Judy Petrofsky, Laurie Berger, Shane Schmid, Allan and Marilee Dabkowski and Christine Burelle, who were also so very supportive during the hard times; and other extended family and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her close friend and longtime companion, Peter E. Smith.  The family will receive guests starting at 9:30 AM Monday (Sept. 18th) at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester before a Chapel Service at 10:30 AM.  Burial will follow in the New Lebanon Cemetery.  Donations in her memory may be made to the National MS Society, P.O.
