Carol Susan (Wheaton) Barrett

Carol Susan (Wheaton) Barrett, age 58, of Lebanon, CT passed away unexpectedly on Saturday October 21, 2017 at Backus Hospital, surrounded by her beloved family.  She was born in Willimantic, on Christmas Day in 1958, to Harold and Frances (Starr) Wheaton.  Carol was the youngest of her four siblings.  She grew up in Lebanon and graduated from Lyman Memorial High School in 1977.  Carol enjoyed spending time with her 10 grandchildren, especially camping, gardening, collecting PEZ, hiking and kayaking.  Carol worked for many years at the Lebanon Green Market.  Most recently, she worked in the Seafood Department of the Colchester Stop & Shop before retiring in 2016.  Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Harold & Frances Wheaton; her brother, Robert Wheaton; and brother-in-law, Mike Greenwood.  Carol will be dearly missed but always remembered by her loving husband, Jim Barrett of Lebanon; her two sons, David Wellington, Jr. and his wife, Mattie of Baltic and Jason Wellington and his wife, Jessica of Northeast, MD; two stepdaughters, Amy Zaikarite and her husband, David of Lebanon and Samantha Barrett of Wethersfield; three siblings, Ellen Greenwood of Waterford, John Wheaton and his wife, Christina of Willimantic and Katherine Smith and her husband, William of Palmetto, FL; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Wheaton of Colchester. Carol also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Camaren, Cody, Tyler, Mason, Emma, Cassidy, Mia, Colton, AJ and Morgan, and many nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.  The family would like to give special thanks to the CCU nurses at Backus for the exceptional care they gave to Carol in her final days.  Calling hours will be held Thursday, October 26th from 5 - 7pm at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester.  Funeral services will be private.
