Carole Carmella Tarrant, 93, of Colchester and formerly of New London, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Apple Rehab in Colchester. Born in Brooklyn, NY on September 17, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Regina (Elia) Lecce. During World War II, Carole contributed to the war effort as a “Rosie Riveter” for Electric Boat. She retired several years ago, working at several different jobs but retired as a custodian at the New London High School. She was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses and a woman of strong faith and spiritual conviction. Carole was devoted to her family and she will be remembered for her strong personality, but also for her generosity and patience. She will be sadly missed but always remembered by her daughters, Toni Regina Elia of Windsor and Pamela Roman of New London; two sisters, Beverly Lecce of Norwich and Helen Lecce of Colchester; a brother, Robert Lecce of Salem; five grandchildren, Joseph, Timothy, Cara and Tiffany Roman and Michael Tarrant; three great grandchildren, Abigail and Wyatt Ricketts and Adiana Roman; and numerous extended family and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, July 14th at 11am at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, 638 Broad Street, New London. The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with arrangements.
