Celia (Berkowitz) Fruchtman

COLUMBIA - Celia (Berkowitz) Fruchtman, 95, widow of the late Simpson Fruchtman, passed away Monday (April 17, 2017) at her home in Delray Beach, FL.

Born in Columbia on Sept. 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Irma Berkowitz.

Together with her late husband (who predeceased her on Feb. 8, 2009), she owned and operated a professional pharmacy and surgical supply center in Summit, NJ for 38 years before their retirement.

She leaves two children; a son, Dr. Hal Fruchtman and his wife Cindy of Langhorn, PA; a daughter, Ina “Sunny” Layne of Delray Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Dari, Tracy, Robert, Amy and Lisa; a great grandson, Kamron; three siblings, Anita “Gigi” Stollman of Colchester, Estelle Flaum of Manchester and Samuel Berkowitz of Colchester.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two siblings, Eva Miller and Myron “Muni” Berkowitz.

Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday (April 21st) at Congregation Agudas Achim Synagogue, 503 Route 87, Columbia.  Interment will follow in United Brethren, Hebron / Agudath Achim, Columbia Cemetery, Mansfield.  Shiva will be observed Friday following the service at the Lejfer Residence, 303 Route 87, Columbia.
