Dorothy “Dottie” Goldstein, 93, a lifelong resident of Lebanon, passed away peacefully Thursday (April 19, 2018) at the Wm. W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. Dorothy was predeceased and is now reunited with her forever love and husband, Arnold ‘Archie’ Goldstein. Dottie is survived by her three children, Ronald Goldstein and his wife, Carol, Richard Goldstein and his wife, Robin and Robert Goldstein, all of Lebanon; three grandchildren, Jeremy Goldstein and his wife, Alison of Franklin, Martha Schultz and her husband, Erik of Pomfret and Ryan Goldstein and his wife, Lara of Mansfield. She leaves five great grandchildren, Megan, Dan and Katie Goldstein and Brandon and Ethan Schultz. Dottie also leaves behind her dearest friend and ‘almost sister’, Nancy Godere of Lebanon. Born March 6, 1925 in Willimantic, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Barbara (Pokorny) Safranek. She was predeceased by her younger brother, Henry ‘Jr’ Safranek. Dottie worked for many years at Sumner and Sumner Insurance Company in Willimantic. She was an active communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Lebanon and their Ladies Guild up until her death. For many years, Dottie and her friend Nancy volunteered as greeters at Red Cross Blood Drives. Dorothy was an avid gardener, always looking forward to spring and another growing season. She gently passed away holding fresh picked daffodils from her garden in her own hand held to her cheek. The family will receive guests 2 – 4 PM Sunday (April 22nd) the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester. The funeral will assemble at the funeral home Monday morning (April 23rd) starting at 9:30 AM before the celebration of the Funeral Liturgy at 10:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 67 West Town Street, Lebanon. Following Mass, she will be laid to rest alongside her husband in the New Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dottie’s honor to the Lebanon Volunteer Fire Dept. & EMS, P.O.
