Dorothy Ann Mahoney

Dorothy Ann Mahoney, 85, of No. Franklin and formerly of Old Saybrook, widow of the late Thomas J. Mahoney, passed away Tuesday (May 17, 2016) at the Candlewood Valley H&R Center in New Milford.  Born March 23, 1931 in Quincy, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Helen Mary (Shanahan) Marble.  Mrs. Mahoney had worked as Director of the Ronald McDonald House in New Haven for many years before her retirement.  She was the loving mother of five children; her son, Thomas Mahoney of Maine, and four daughters (and their spouses), Annmarie (James) Gorman of New Fairfield, Ellen (Erik) Freidenfelds of Lisbon, Margaret (John) Lasko of Ivoryton and Kathryn Mahoney (and Mike Balestracci) of No. Franklin, with whom she had made home for over the past 10 years; 20 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.  A memorial gathering to celebrate her life will be observed from 12:30 to 2 PM Sunday (May 22nd) at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Childrens' Research Hospital, P.O.
