Edward M. McGillicuddy
July 4, 1939 ~ July 24, 2016 (age 77) 77 Years OldEdward M. McGillicuddy, 77 of Vero Beach, FL and formerly of Lebanon, passed away on Sunday (July 24, 2016) after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Verdun, NB, Canada on July 4, 1939, he was a son of the late Herbert and Dorothy (Lloyd) McGillicuddy.
Ed married his beloved Alice Fay Smith on June 20, 1959 in Lebanon, where they made their home and raised their family. Ed retired several years ago after his career working for Steel Erectors with the Ironworkers Local 15. He later joined the Ironworkers Retirees Club. Ed was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Lebanon. He was also an honorary member of the Iwo Jima Memorial, of which he contributed to its construction. Ed enjoyed snowmobiling and automobile engine and mechanical work; but most importantly will be remembered as a hardworking man, ever devoted to his family. He will be sadly missed but always remembered by his wife Alice of 57 years; his children and their spouses, Edward, Jr., and his wife Kelly of Lebanon, Donna and her husband Kenneth Taylor of Vero Beach, FL, Jeffrey McGillicuddy of Colchester, Patrick McGillicuddy of New Hampshire; a sister, Darleen Sweet of Colchester; five grandchildren, Shauna Taylor, Devin, Jeremy, Ryan, and Brandon McGillicuddy, and numerous extended family and friends.
Calling hours will be observed on Friday (July 29th) from 5 – 7 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester. The funeral will assemble starting at 10 AM Saturday before a Chapel Service at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery.
