Unfortunately I am unable to be there. But I wanted to let you know how Eric was a part of my life. When I met my husband they were friends. Shortly after he became my friend. That's just the way Eric was, welcoming me to the group. We had a lot of fun going to parties, listening to bands, having game nights, Superbowl parties and fireworks at our house. Eric was also part of our wedding giving us a paintball gun salute. I will never forget that. I'm very sorry for your loss. Eric will be missed but not forgotten.

Mr. Hackney, Darren and Julie,
I am so sorry for your loss. I am extremely sad to hear of Eric's passing.
Eric and I were close friends in high school. I worked with him one summer cutting lawns and doing landscaping.
He was always compassionate and always willing to help others. I can still hear his laugh and see his mischievous smile. I remember riding around New Britain in his Ford pickup.
Rest well my friend., rest well.

Eric was like a brother to me for almost 39 years -- we grew up together. Easy-going and always quick to smile and laugh, he was equally quick to protect and defend. Still waters ran deep -- he was smart, proud, honorable, and strong, but he was also very kind with a generous spirit. Eric never minced words -- he was honest, direct, and to the point -- and I loved that about him. Those that he loved, he loved fiercely -- and he would do anything for them -- always had their back. I was fortunate to have been in his life all these years -- I will miss him terribly. In my heart, I'll carry the sound of his voice and his deep belly laugh, but mostly, I'll cherish the memories -- especially those when he flashed his mischievous grin and had that sparkle in his eyes. To Eric's family -- my deepest, most heartfelt condolences. To my dear friend -- when it's time for us to meet again, pick me up on the Harley...

Everett, Family & Friends,
I am so sorry for your loss. Eric will truly be greatly missed. I remember the day I moved to our apartment complex a little over 2 years ago. He was the first neighbor to come out to greet me with his wonderful welcoming smile as if we have been friends for a life time. Eric was my favorite neighbor at the complex, we would regularly greet each other with a wave or a friendly conversation. I will miss the way he would fill the hallway with the most amazing smell of food, I would occasionally try to guess what he could be cooking. Please feel free to reach out to me if I can help in any way during this tough time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
With Love,
Kelly Marshall

So sad to hear about the loss of Eric. We lost touch over the years but he was such a good buddy in high school. We had many good times in classes, through Junior Achievement, and other events. He was very kind and made others laugh. Just seeing this yearbook picture of him posted here makes me smile to remember the good times we had. My prayers are with you all at this difficult time.
