Mr. Bashelor was the most wonderful teacher and man to grace the halls of Simsbury High School. I spent two years in his class and because of him, his class is where I gained my fondest high school memories. Both years, Mr. Bashelor was able to bring together our class with an entirely unbreakable bond. I am certain that my AP US History class will continue to reminisce on our time spent with Mr. Bashelor for years to come. I am so incredibly grateful to have had the privilege of having him as a teacher. He could have told you, I made it very clear to him that I was not interested in history whatsoever. This, of course, all changed throughout my years in his classes. The "Don't Tread On Me Flag" he left for me upon his medical leave is one of my most treasured possessions that I will have forever. Personally, Mr. Bashelor's positive impact was so great that I dedicated my college essay to him. I am eternally thankful for everything I gained from knowing Mr. Bashelor. I am so entirely sorry for your loss. I was not able to attend the service as I intended to, and am especially regretful of this. I wish the best to you and your family.

Dear Jess:
It is Lisa from your Interise class. I am so sorry for the loss of your father. I lost my dad to a heart attack when he was 72. It was a very sad and traumatic experience. Please know that you are welcome to reach out to me if you want to talk. This is a very hard passage in life and it changes you. My heart goes out to you.
Take care,
Lisa

Out of all of the teachers at Simsbury High, Mr. Bashelor was one that stood out. He was always so kind, funny, and genuinely cared about his students. He was a great person who had a positive impact on all of his students, and will be sorely missed.

No teacher (and possibly no coach) had a more profound impact on Jack than Mr. Bashelor. Whether in the classroom or on the field, he exemplified the perfect mix of leadership, strength and humor. The SHS community has truly lost one of its greatest assets. Our sincerest condolences to your family at this difficult time.

You were my favorite teacher I've ever had. I graduated in 2009 from SHS and you wrote my college recommendation for BU, I remember I got to read it and it was the nicest thing I had ever seen anyone write about me. I wish I could do the same for you now. Thank you for having such an incredible impact on all of your students. My deepest condolences to your family, I know how much you loved them and they loved you. I hope you're on the beach in Cape May, smiling, laughing and at peace.

There are only a handful of teachers that we as a family can honestly say had an enormous impact on the type of adults our kids ended up being. Mr Bashelor was the top. Especially when you have a student that didn't love school as much (he would know which one) We are so sorry for your loss .Our prayers are with all of his family
