Margaret M. Sullivan, 84, of Moodus and formerly of Colchester, passed away at Middlesex Memorial Hospital Hospice on February 12, 2017 with her family by her side.

Born in Waterbury on November 20, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Margaret (Cleary) Tenney.  Margaret grew up in Waterbury and remained there while she raised her own children.  She worked at the Waterbury Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse, retiring in 1993.  After her children were grown, she moved to Oakville and later to Colchester.  She spent her last year living with her daughter, Liz in Moodus.  Margaret was a communicant of St. Bridget of Kildare Church.  She enjoyed reading, watching Jeopardy, and she was a fan of the Red Sox and Patriots.  Most importantly, she will be remembered by her family as a strong and independent woman who was devoted to them and found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed but always remembered by her children, Francis Sullivan of S. Windsor, Elizabeth Winkelmann of Moodus, Mary Sullivan of New Haven; five grandchildren, Sean and Ryan Sullivan, Kevin and Kyle Grechika, Kassie Gosnell; eight great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was pre deceased by two sons, John and Bruce Sullivan and by a sister, Roberta Kelly.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18th at 10am at St. Bridget of Kildare Church, 75 Moodus Leesville Rd., Moodus.  Burial will be private.  Donations in her memory may be made to the Middlesex Hospital Hospice, 28 Crescent St., Middletown, 06457.  The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with these services.
