Nolita May (Smith) Taylor
September 27, 1939 ~ December 2, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years OldNolita May (Smith) Taylor, 78, of Preston and formerly of Salem and North Stonington, passed away Saturday (Dec. 2, 2017). Born Sept. 27, 1939 in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Nora (Bacon) Smith. Nolita had worked as a waitress at Norm’s Diner in Groton for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed making arts and crafts, but most importantly she was ever devoted to family and friends alike. Her selfless and generous nature will be remembered by all whose lives she touched. She leaves five children, Brenda Young (and husband, Michael) of Lebanon, Dale Taylor (and wife, Dawn) of Oakdale, Nolita Taylor-Fusco of Preston, Janet Taylor (and fiancé, David Fusco) of Norwich and Tracy Kay of Preston; daughter-in-law, Victoria Taylor of Laconia, NY; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a sister, Janice Pierce (and husband Richard) of Manchester; and numerous extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Walter Taylor, Jr.; two sons-in-law, David Fusco and Kenneth Kay, III; and a sister, Shirley Brainard. A Chapel Service celebrating her life will be observed 12 noon Saturday (Dec. 9th) at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. The family will receive guests starting at 11 AM prior to the service. Burial will be private in the Maplewood Cemetery, Norwich.
