Sondra Ann Champagne

Sondra Ann Champagne, 83, of Colchester, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 after a long illness at Apple Rehab in Colchester, with her beloved family by her side.  Born in Hartford on January 16, 1934, she was a daughter of Jack and Edith (Kashkin) Solomon.  Sondra married Philip Raymond Champagne and the couple made their home and raised their family on South Main Street in Colchester.  Philip predeceased her on February 8, 1996.  Sondra retired several years ago after having worked as a Clerk for the CT Lottery.  She enjoyed crocheting and knitting crafts but she will be remembered most for the love and devotion she gave so generously to her beloved family.  She will be sadly missed but always remembered by her children, Stephen and his wife, Linda Champagne of Jewett City, Robin Lynn of Colchester, Wendy and her husband, Dick Ford of Hebron and Barri and her husband, Craig Fox of Salem; a brother, Gary and his wife Judi, Solomon of Palm Springs, CA; an aunt, Mildred Kashkin of Colchester; 13  grandchildren, Drew Champagne, Jack Champagne, S.J. Champagne, Amanda Young, Jessica Young, Jennifer Tussing, Jackie Reynolds, Staci Tomer, Derek Whitneck, Jennifer Orfitelli, Richard Ford, Nicole Ford and Chelsea Fox; several great great-great grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 30th at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester, beginning at 10 am with calling hours, followed by a funeral home chapel service at 11 am, with Sondra’s brother, Gary officiating.  Burial will follow in the State Veteran’s Cemetery in Middletown.  Donations in her memory may be made to the Hartford Health Care at Home, 1290 Silas Deane Hwy.
