Sylvia M. Tyler, 92, of Groton and formerly of Voluntown, widow of the late Donald Tyler, passed away Saturday (January 21, 2017) at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.

Born August 8, 1924 in Pomfret, she was the last surviving child of five born to the late George and Mildred Putnam (Wells) Wilcox. Mrs. Tyler had been a longtime member Ekonk Grange and the Norwich Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Sylvia was the loving wife of the late Donald Tyler (who passed away July 27, 1998); devoted mother of their five children, Thomas Tyler, Rosalie “Posey” and Earl Clements, Susan and Robert Buonomano, Jennifer and Donald Bradley, and the late David Tyler (who passed away June 14, 1994); doting grandmother of 18, Amy and Jeff Browning, Curtis and Jennifer Tyler, Robert and Rachelle Tyler, Kimberly and Paul Senec, and Keith and Victoria Clements, Mathew and Micelle Buonomano, Amy Walter, Laurie and John Mullins, Melissa Dana Fortin, Robert and Stephany Buonomano, and David and Lindsay Buonomano, Nicole Bradley, Courtney Mckelvey, Benjamin Bradley, Katherine Bradley, Jeremy Tyler, Heather and Ashley Hampton, and Emily Tyler; great grandmother of 38 and great-great grandmother of six.
