Wayne G. Brandt, Sr., aged 72 years young, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018.  His beloved family was by his side.  Born in North Canaan, CT on October 13, 1945, he was a son of the late Roy and Isabell (Ostrander) Brandt.  He was raised in Salisbury, CT and attended school there.  Wayne was a proud veteran and patriot, having served our country with the Army military police during the Vietnam War.  He continues his comradery with veterans as a member of the East Haddam-Moodus Memorial VFW Post 3336.  He married Myra Lowell on November 20, 1967.  Myra placed the wedding band on his finger and Wayne spent their remaining 50 years together as a devoted and loving husband to her.  He retired in 2009 after a 35 year career as a jet engine mechanic for Pratt and Whitney in Middletown.  Wayne loved his job and all the wonderful friends he made there over the years.  Wayne will be remembered as a devout patriot, avid Second Amendment advocate, NRA member, and marksman enthusiast.  Most importantly, he will be remembered for his love and devotion to family, friends and country.  In addition to his loving wife, Myra, he will be sadly missed but always remembered by his sons and their spouses, Wayne Brandt, Jr., of Sharon, CT, Charles Brandt and his wife Louvenia of Sprague, CT, Robert Brandt and his wife Barbara of Mansfield, CT; two grandchildren, Alex English and her husband Andrew of Enterprise, AL, Sterling Brandt of Mansfield; two great grandchildren Austin and Ariana English and numerous extended family members and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Roy Brandt and an nephew, Bill Brandt.  Visitation will be held at noon on Saturday, January 13th at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 499 Town St., East Haddam 06423.  A memorial service will follow at 1 pm and full military honors will follow immediately at the church.  Burial will be private.  Donations in his memory may be made to the Church Knitting Ministry.  The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements.
