Amy Sue (Haas) Smith, 47, of Colchester, passed away Sunday, October 13th after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hartford on August 3, 1972, she was the daughter of Gilbert and Sue (Tucker) Haas. Amy married her beloved husband Daniel on June 12, 2012 and the couple made their home in Colchester. Amy was employed by the New London public school system, working as both a librarian and secretary. Amy was a kind soul with an infectious smile that could light up an entire room. Her biggest joy in life came from spending time with her beloved family, friends, and pets. She believed in living life to the fullest but also made sure to take time to enjoy and appreciate the little things in life such as enjoying a good book or a Broadway show. Amy was also a talented clarinet player and was a former member of the Colchester Civic Orchestra. Amy will be forever loved and missed by her husband, Daniel; her parents, Gilbert and Sue; her brother Michael (Maricel) Haas, of Chandler, AZ; brother in laws, Gene Smith of Fort Pierce, FL, James Smith of Vancouver WA; goddaughter, Erica Montalvo; and many extended family members and friends. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 6, from 10 to 11 AM directly at St. Andrew Church 128 Norwich Ave Colchester, with a memorial mass to follow at 11 AM.
