I remember when I first met Darlene. There had been a snowstorm and our parking area had not been plowed. So Darlene and another friend came into the backyard to help me shovel the car out. When the other friend had to go in, Darlene kept on until it was done. Darlene had moxie, and was a fierce protector of those she loved. She had a wicked sense of humor , always encouraged you when you wanted to give up, and I miss her.

A few summers ago I was walking my dog in the back lot. There was a groundhog with its head stuck in a peanut butter jar.. I went to get Darlene and out she comes and proceeds to get that jar off its head. Didn't even flinch, just did it. That was Darlene.
