Donald Gerard Gadbois “Don”, 64, of Colchester, passed away after a difficult struggle with lung disease. He had been a recipient of a lung transplant which gave him the gift of life for several years. Don was born in Hartford on February 2, 1954, a son of Ange (Poulin) Gadbois of Meriden and the late Gerard Gadbois. Don married his beloved wife, Penny Godin on April 21, 1989. The couple made their home in Colchester where they raised their family and built their retirement home as well. Don retired from Pratt and Whitney several years ago after a thirty year career as a machinist. He enjoyed league bowling and golfing and he was an avid fisherman who loved to say, “just one more cast”. Don loved to garden in his yard and go camping with his family. He will be remembered most fondly for how he would prank, tease, and have fun with family and friends. He will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by his wife of 29 years, Penny; his children, Raymond and his wife Judy Schilling of Naugatuck, Robin and her husband Coy Hall of Colchester and Evan Gadbois and his fiancé Laura Dane of Woodbridge; a sister, Linda and husband Al Proctor of Meriden; eight grandchildren, Coy IV, Haley, Tylor, Eyezik, Emma, Chris, Madison, Henry; a godchild, Heather; a special uncle “Alien”, and best friend, Lou Poulin; and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a son, Gary Schilling. The family will receive guests Wednesday, Dec. 26th from 4 – 6 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, Dec. 27th directly at St. Andrew Church, 128 Norwich Ave., Colchester. Burial will be private, at the convenience of the family.
