Ella (Hamel) Woods

Ella (Hamel) Woods, 93, of Colchester, and formerly of Massachusetts and New Hampshire, widow of the late Edward J. Woods, passed away Sunday March 3, 2019.  Born July 24, 1925 in Pembroke, NH, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Laurence (Ricard) Hamel. Among her favorite things, Ella loved camping and had owned a campground for several years, playing solitaire on the computer, watching the Red Sox and Patriots play and her lollipops or cough drops. Mrs. Woods went to college later in life, earning a degree in accounting and worked in the field until her retirement. She loved being with her family and making new friends.  She will be forever loved by her four children and their spouses; Edward (Carol) Woods, Jr., Gary (Nancy) Woods of Lowell, MA, Cyndy Woods of Clearwater, FL, and Karen (Ray) Conroy, her siblings; Donald and Joanne Hamel of FL, Jeanne and Norman Leduc of Tyngsboro, MA, and Pat and Dick Curtis of PA, 12 grandchildren, several adopted grandchildren, whom helped care for her; two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Kathy Gardner, with whom she had made her home in later years before Kathy’s passing; and two siblings, Dorothy Smith and Louis Hamel. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s association 225 N.
