Eric Hesse Obituary

Eric W. Hesse, of Lebanon, CT, husband of Ingeburg Hesse, passed away Easter Sunday April 21, 2019 at Harrington Court Convalescent Home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 11, 1928 in Hartford, CT, the son of the late Erich W. and Julie Hesse, and had reached the healthy age of 91 when he died of complications of pneumonia. He graduated from Howell Cheney Technical School of Manchester CT, with a discipline in Electrical and Electric Motor Repair. Once graduated, he served in the Army National Guard, before realizing his dream of owning and operating his own business, Central Electric Motor Repair and Service business for over fifty five years, catering to local farmers, business’, as well as homeowners for their electric motor needs and repairs. He was a past member of the Lebanon Lions Club, past Zoning Enforcement Officer, as well as running for First selectman of the Town of Lebanon. Besides his love for the town, he enjoyed being a lifelong member of The Hartford Liederkranz German American Club, The Willimantic German American Social Club, as well as a member of St. Francis/St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church in Colchester, CT. He was an accomplished musician, who played the violin, the banjo, the accordian, as well as the organ, once leading his own band for local functions. He was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast – never really finding too many that he could not complete. He built three homes, one family Summer home at Lake Amston in which many family parties and neighborhood get-togethers took place; his residence on Exeter Road with his wife Inge and his family, as well as a second family Summer get-away in Vermont at Lake Dunmore, where he could be seen relaxing on his dcek over looking the lake with his cup of coffee, his crossword book, and his beloved Golden Retriever – Lena by his side - always enjoying mutual affection for one another. Whether it was sitting on the deck with his crossword taking in the breathtaking sunsets or sitting in the family room in front of the woodstove, he enjoyed being at the lake. He leaves behind his wife Ingeburg of over 65 years, a daughter Anne Marie and husband Philip Wengloski; two sons, William Hesse and lifelong partner Deanna; and John Hesse and wife Ginger; several nieces and nephews, as well as several grandchildren. Calling hours will be held at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester, CT, Tuesday April 23 from 5-7pm. The funeral will gather on Wednesday April 24th at 9:30 am followed by the celebration of the Funeral Liturgy at 11:00 am at St. Andrew Church in Colchester. Burial will be at The New Lebanon Cemetery following.
