Hattie (Bray) Turner, 96, of Colchester, widow of the late Samuel Turner, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. Born July 26, 1921 in Eastman GA, she was the last surviving of the nine children of the late Elbert and Luddie (Carson) Bray. In December of 1939, she and Sam were married in Eastman and ended up settling in Colchester to raise their son, Kenneth. A talented seamstress, Mrs. Turner has worked for the former Levine & Levine Coat Factory and had also been a sales associate for Jones Apparel of New York. She was a longtime member of the Baptist congregation of the Colchester Federated Church and was a Deaconess Emeritus. Mrs. Turner had been active with the Order of the Eastern Star. She leaves her son, Kenneth Turner of Arlington, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will receive guests starting at 10 AM Thursday (July 5th) directly at the Colchester Federated Church (located at 60 Main Street on the Green) before the Funeral Service at 11 AM. Following the service, she will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Linwood Cemetery, Colchester. Donations in her memory may be made to the Church. Care of arrangements has been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester.
