Janet M. Dobush, 93, of Columbia, Connecticut and formerly of Willimantic, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 17, 2018. Born December 14, 1924 in Willimantic, she was the daughter of the late Dmytro and Mary (Rusiecki) Dobush. She leaves a brother, John Dobush of Harwinton, Connecticut, numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and an extended family of very caring ladies. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by four siblings, Antonia Piasecki, Stanley, Walter and Henry Dobush. Ms. Dobush, a graduate of Windham High School, had a long career with Southern New England Telephone working the split shift for 38 years with perfect attendance and retiring in 1983. In the early working years, as a person to person audio operator, Ms. Dobush perfected the art of conversation which remained one of her favorite daily activities. A communicant of St. Joseph Church in Willimantic, she participated in the Church’s Bell Choir for many years. She enjoyed national and abroad travels, snow skiing, bird watching, antiquing with a special interest in the many varieties of antique clocks and was a Red Hat Society member.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11 AM Friday (June 22nd) directly at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic. The family will receive guests at St. Joseph’s starting at 10:30 AM. Graveside Services will be observed 12 noon Saturday (June 23rd) at the New Willimantic Cemetery (located at the intersection of Routes 32 and 6). In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Beckish Senior Center, 188 Route 66, Columbia, CT 06237.
