John Henry Andrysiak, age 72, of Colchester, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 6, 2019. He shared 42 years with his beloved wife, Debra (Janco), and raised his family in Colchester. He was born November 1, 1946 on Long Island, NY, to the late Walter and Mary (Billek) Andrysiak. John was a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam Era, serving overseas in Korea and was semi-retired from his position as a retail salesman. He loved to fish, bird watch, and garden when he was not watching or listening to his beloved NY Giants and Mets. He was a man of many talents who was at his best cooking Thanksgiving dinner, working with his hands, or zipping through his daily crossword puzzles. In recent years, he took great joy in being "Jaja" to his grandchildren, including fishing trips with Jimmer and teaching Charlotte to say his name. He will be remembered as soft spoken, sharp-witted, a master at Jeopardy, a friend to all who knew him, and one who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. John will be sadly missed, but remembered with love by his wife, Debra; children, Michelle and her husband James Stotler of Middletown, and Matthew Metz of Fall River, MA; a sister, Carol and her husband Joseph Ruszczyk of Long Island, NY; a brother, Walter Andrysiak of Long Island, NY; two grandchildren, Jimmer and Charlotte Stotler; his mother-in-law, Rita Janco of Colchester and numerous extended family and friends. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 9th from 5 – 7 pm at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 10th at 10:30 am directly at St. Andrew Church, 128 Norwich Ave., Colchester. Burial will be private.
