Krystn Anne Bowers, 49, of Taftville and formerly of Lebanon, lost her battle with myotonic muscular dystrophy on March 25, 2019 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London while surrounded by her family. Born in Hartford on October 17, 1969, she was the youngest daughter of the late Robert and Eileen (Beck) Bowers. Krystn grew up in Lebanon as a young girl, even though struggling with myotonic muscular dystrophy, she loved climbing trees to get to where the wild grapes grew. She also loved to play BINGO and Monopoly. Krystn was a poet and enjoyed writing poems, she had a great sense of humor. Krystn was very proud to have earned her five year pin from AA recently. Her accomplishments with the Norwich AA group led her to become a role model for many others who struggled with similar addictions. Krystn also volunteered at the homeless shelter in Willimantic for a time. Krystn didn’t realize how much joy she brought to the lives of people that knew her. Krystn will be sadly missed, and remembered with love by her sisters, Kelly Damaj of Colchester, Kimberly Bowers of Waterbury; nieces, Autumn Ladzinski, Nicole Bowers, Omyia Damaj; nephews, Robert Bowers, Timothy Damaj; close friends, Kathy Messier, Cynthia Adams, Richard Levesque; and many other extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held privately. Donations in her memory may be made to The National WildLife Federation at https://www.nwf.org. The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com
