Mildred (Gruich) O'Toole
October 29, 1916 ~ January 6, 2018 (age 101) 101 Years OldMildred (Gruich) O'Toole, of Hebron and formerly Pennsylvania, widow of the late John T. O'Toole, passed away peacefully Friday (Jan. 5, 2018) at the age of 101. Born Oct. 29, 1916 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Steven and Amelia (Cenic) Gruich. Mrs. O'Toole had worked for the State of Pennsylvania Liquor Board for many years. Following her retirement, she moved to Hebron to be closer to her family, where she was active with both the Hebron Community Lions and the Russell Mercier Senior Center. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Noreen (William) Rudis of Hebron, with whom she had made her home; her son-in-law, Jerry LaGrand of Myrtle Beach, SC; seven grandchildren, Bryan (Cheryl) Gustis of Glastonbury, Kimberly Guerra of Vernon, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Beauregard of S. Windsor, Jamie Gustis of Kearney, NJ, Mark (Lisa) LaGrand of Orlando, FL, John (Kathy) LeGrand of Coventry and Michael LaGrand of New York City; seven great grandchildren, Jordyn, Owen, Natalie, Alexis, Kyle, Zachary and Sam; and numerous extended family and friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia LaGrand and a great grandson, Nicholas Cohen. A Memorial Service will be observed 10:30 AM Friday (April 6th) at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. The family will receive guests starting at 9 AM until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest along with her late husband in the Bourne (Mass.) National Veterans' Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
