Mirta Rodriguez, age 46, of Hebron, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on October 3, 2019. Born in Bridgeport on November, 14, 1972, she was a daughter of Maria Morales Rodriguez and the late Ulpiano Rodriguez. Mirta was beautiful young women with a gentle spirit. She resided at the Hebron Group Home for over 30 years where she loved the special attention she received from those who loved and supported her. Mirta attended the Oak Hill School for the Blind. She loved to listen to Spanish music, enjoyed participating in arts and crafts, music therapy with Vinnie G and visits from “Parker” from Healers with Halos. Mirta was a member of the Hebron In-Home Day Program’s Team; the “Hebron Hustlers." Mirta enjoyed practicing Wii bowling and tennis in preparation for the upcoming Wii tournament. Mirta recently decorated her team shirt with tie dye and stenciling, proudly depicting her name along with her team name. Mirta loved to get her beautiful curly hair adorned with ribbons and bows to match her colorful outfit of the day. Mirta loved to eat good food and had her special way of letting folks know that she enjoyed every bite. She will be sadly missed by her mother, Maria; sisters Carmen Rodriguez, Minerva Rodrigues Diaz; her group home family, staff and the many friends she made there. A celebration of Mirta’s life will be held on October 24th, at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd. Colchester, beginning at 10:30 am with visitation followed by a memorial service at 11 am.
