Paul “Richard” Woytowick, age 82, of Niantic, and formerly of East Hampton and West Hartford, widower of the late Margery Woytowick, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Crescent Point Assisted Living in Niantic. He had a long and courageous struggle with dementia. Born September 12, 1936, a son of the late Paul and Mary (Curyk) Woytowick. In 1960 Richard married his beloved wife Margery (Riedinger) Woytowick, the couple lived in West Hartford where they raised their family until moving to East Hampton in 1984. He worked as a civil engineer in the steel construction industry. He was very proud of the construction jobs his company participated in, providing windows and doors for many famous buildings in and around Hartford. Richard enjoyed his retirement at his property in East Hampton, spending time in the woods, riding his tractor, and puttering around on his property building various projects. He had a passion for model trains, and would spend hours constructing custom made setups for his train collection. Throughout his lifetime, he belonged to several train clubs in Connecticut and New England.
He will be forever missed and loved by his son Dwight Woytowick of Union, CT, his daughter, Sherry and her husband John Lambert of East Lyme: grandchildren, Ana Woytowick, and Sean and Tim Lambert: and many numerous extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife, Margery who predeceased him on August 9, 2017. A memorial service will be held in Essex at the Connecticut River Museum on Sunday September 8, 2019 at 6 PM. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Crescent Point for their extraordinary care they gave to Richard during the last few years of his life.
