Richard A. Parker, 88, of Amston Lake, Hebron, widower of the late Deloris (Chicoine) Parker, passed away peacefully Friday (Sept. 14, 2018) at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born Dec. 17, 1929 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Albert and Dorothy (Elmquist) Parker. A proud Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during his service. Richard was a member of Jones-Keefe-Batson American Legion Post 95 in Hebron, as well as the VFW and DAV. Mr. Parker had worked as an assembly operator at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford before his retirement in 1989. He leaves five children, Caren Taylor of Amston, Dorothy Angell of Chaplin, Michael Parker of Coventry, Allen Parker of Colchester and Robert Parker of Lebanon; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to his wife, who predeceased him May 13, 2010 and his parents, he was predeceased by his four siblings, Elizabeth Cook and Anna, George and Edward Parker. Friends may call 5 - 7 PM Thursday (Sept. 20th) at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. Funeral Services will be observed 10:30 AM Friday (Sept. 21st) at the funeral home followed by burial with military honors at the New Hebron Cemetery.
