Robert John Krutz

Robert John Krutz, age 73, of East Haddam, passed away at home on August 3, 2019.  Born in Bridgeport on March 10, 1946, he was a son of the late John and Anne (Biaglowy) Krutz.  Bob grew up in Bridgeport.  He worked for J. Marsilio and went on to work as a civil servant for the Parks and Recreation Department there for many years.  He later worked for various Stop and Shop stores and retiring from the store in Colchester, where he was fondly known as “the Fonz”.  Bob was an avid fan of the Mets and Giants, he enjoyed bowling with the Thursday night Mixed League in East Hampton, and he loved his home on the Moodus Reservoir. 

Robert will be sadly missed by his children, Robert J. Krutz II, with whom he made his home; Jennifer and her husband Carl Gruszczak and their daughter Isabella of Cromwell, Jolene and her husband Stephen Wilcox and their children, Michael and Brianna; a brother, Ronald and his wife Penny Krutz of Bolivia, NC; three sisters, Barbara and husband Ron Wardlow of Bridgeport, CT, Sandra and husband James Swanson of West Haven, CT and Linda and husband Bruce Larocque of Bolivia NC; his former wife, friend and caregiver, Dorothy Valentino; and many extended family members and friends. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 17th at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester, beginning with calling hours from 10 - 11 am followed by a funeral home chapel service and celebration of life at 11 am.  Burial will be private.  Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org For online condolences, please visit www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com
