Shawn Michael Bator

Shawn Michael Bator, 54, of Hebron, dedicated husband, father and son passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (Jan. 31, 2018), prior to his beloved Patriots yet again winning another Super Bowl. He leaves his loving wife of 26 years, Judy (Digan) Bator; their two children, Jack Michael Bator and Jenna Lynn Bator of Hebron; his parents, J. Michael and Carolyn (Clermont) Bator of Manchester; four sisters, Melissa Bator of Manchester, Denise Bator of Colchester, Kathleen Prawl (and husband, Barry) of Colchester and Jessica Bator of New Britain. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Randy Bator. He also leaves his beloved huge, ferocious dog, Kali; and numerous extended family members; nieces, nephews and friends.  Following his graduation from East Catholic High School in Manchester in 1982, he enlisted in the Army, serving proudly for four years.  Shawn went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Central CT State University in 1991 and went on to work in the insurance industry – most recently for Travelers Insurance.  An avid sports fan, he loved golfing with his son, and rooted for both the Red Sox and Patriots. He also enjoyed his children’s friends hanging out at the house, waiting to prank them when they least expected it. Shawn will be most fondly remembered for his “own” sense of humor, his love of wearing shorts all year long, his concern and willingness to always help anyone in need,  and his undying love for his family and friends.  The family will receive guests 1 – 4 PM Sunday (Feb. 4th) at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester.  The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday (Feb. 5th) directly at the Church of the Holy Family, 185 Church St. (Rte. 85), Hebron.  Rendering of military honors will follow Mass as burial will be private.  As Shawn was an active blood donor, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
