Theodore Buford James Weir, “Ted”, of Colebrook Village, Hebron and formerly of Lockport, NY, widower of the late Dorothy (Jacobs) Weir, passed away peacefully Sunday morning after a courageous battle with bone cancer at the age of 91. Born July 1, 1927 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late James and Catherine (Frost) Weir. Growing up in Niagara Falls, NY, he was a graduate of Lasalle High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from SUNY in Buffalo. A proud Army veteran, Mr. Weir served with the 2nd Division 12th Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean War. For 30 years, he was employed by Harrison Radiator of General Motors as an Industrial Engineer before his retirement in 1983. Ted was a longtime member of the Lockport Town and Country Club and had been an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 8 in Cambria, NY from 1976 to 1988. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, bird watching, college football, military history and spending time at his summer cabin in Northern Ontario. He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, James and Dana Weir of Hebron and two grandchildren, Alex and Katie Weir. In addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, whom passed away Nov. 30, 2013, and his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Calvin and Robert Weir. Locally, the family will receive guests 1 – 3 PM Saturday (Sept. 29th) at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. Services and burial will be observed in Lockport, NY.
