Vincent T. Michalski, 73, of Moodus, passed away on December 9, 2019 at Hartford Hospital. Born January 21, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York; he was the son of the late Victor and Helen (Lewandowski) Michalski. At just the age of 14 he won the title of New York State Swimming Champion; in 1966 Vincent enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served our country fighting in Vietnam. He was decorated with a Vietnam Service medal with 3 stars and a Combat Action Ribbon, along with several other honors. After his service Vincent moved to Connecticut in the late 60's; where due to his experience in the Marines he was invited to work at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Middletown where he worked as an engineer and taught computer aided drafting until his retirement in 2012. Vincent was a man of many talents who could play the piano and accordion, and enjoyed being near the water, or making use of his private pilot’s license. However, his greatest joy was always spending time with his family. He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Laura Michalski, son Brian Michalski, of Shapleigh, Maine; daughters Lisa and her husband Mark Blancato of Glastonbury, and Leslie Ann; sister Marion and her husband Bernard Duffy of Hampton; grandchildren Anabella, Farrah, Soleil, and Hudson Blancato, Sofia Michalski; and numerous extended family and friends. In addition to his parents; he was predeceased by his first wife, Millie Kraus-Michalski, A memorial service will be held at St Bridget of Kildare Church, 75 Moodus Leesville Rd, Moodus, CT on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the New Saint Andrew Cemetery in Colchester. A celebration of Vinny’s life will be held at a later date in the springtime, with details to be announced by his family.
