Waldemar “Walt” Koenig, 77, of Lebanon, beloved husband of Donna (Cranick) Koenig, passed away Friday (Sept. 22, 2017) at Hartford Hospital.  Born Nov. 13, 1939 in Puoski, Poland, he was the son of the late Gustav and Hulda (Neuman) Koenig.  His family emigrated to the United States in 1952 and settled in Lebanon, where Walt graduated from Lyman Memorial.  He enlisted in the Army and served proudly in post-war Korea.  Walt went on to study at both Hartford State Technical College and later ECSU, earning his Bachelor’s degree.  Over the years, Mr. Koenig worked in various technical positions and lastly as a computer programmer for the State of CT before his retirement. Always willing to lend a helping hand to others, he also loved photography, spending time outdoors and took great pride in all he did.  In addition to his loving wife of 34 years, Donna; he leaves his stepdaughter, Janis McLaughlin, her husband Kevin and their children, Erin and William – all of Raleigh, NC; his sister, Maria Niles of Columbia; his mother-in-law, Alveda Cranick of Lebanon; his brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Irene Cranick of Colchester; his niece, Jeanne Cravens of Homestead, FL; and four nephews, James Boisjoly of College Grove, TN, Donald Boisjoly of Miami, FL, Paul Cranick of Cromwell and Bohdan Cranick of Norwich.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Ida Boisjoly and Lydia Koenig in addition to his parents.  The family will receive guests 5 – 7 PM Monday (Sept. 25th) at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester.  The Funeral Service will be observed 10:30 AM Tuesday (Sept. 26th) directly at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 361 Beaumont Hwy., Lebanon.  Burial with military honors will follow in the New Lebanon Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Church.
