Allen William Del Valle, age 92 of Colchester, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Sept 5, 2020 at Hartford Hospital after a long illness. Born on June 10, 1928 in New York City, NY, he was a son of the late Alfredo and Grace (Hopkins) Del Valle. He married his beloved wife, Virginia Carr in 1951. They shared 54 years of marriage and raised eight children together before she predeceased him in 2005. Allen was a proud veteran having served in the US Army during WWII. He retired several years ago after a long and successful career as a computer programmer for CBS TV. He was a man of great faith having been a communicant at St. Andrew Church in Colchester where he also served as an usher and choir member. Allen was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Cardinal Spellman Council in Colchester and formerly of St. Ambrose council in NY where he was also a past Grand Knight. His hobbies were singing and acting and he shared his talent by singing and acting with the Colchester Community Theatre. He will be remembered as a hardworking and dedicated man who was ever devoted to God, family and country. He will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by his children and their spouses, Deborah Glaeser of Manchester, Judith LaGuardia of Manchester, Dennis (Debbie) Del Valle of Holbrook Long Island, NY, David (Karen) Del Valle of Cromwell, Mark Del Valle of Clear Water, FL; eighteen grandchildren, Dawn, Tammy, Tracy, Louis, David, Paul, Brian, Carly, Dennis, Michelle, Andrea, Allison, Erin, Sean, Nolan, Michael, Mark, Kevin; eight great grandchildren, Taylor, Maxwell, Isaac, Gabriel, Isabella, Ethan, Ryan, Angelina; longtime friend and companion, Mary Glista; and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to his beloved wife, parents, and two siblings, he was predeceased by three children, Pamela Faggione, Donna Schmidt, and Michael Del Valle and two sons in law, Bob Schmidt and Louie LaGuardia. Funeral services will be held at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester on Thursday, September 10th beginning with walk thru calling hours from 9 – 10:30 am. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am at St. Andrew Church in Colchester with full military honors. Burial will be held on Saturday, September 12th at 10am directly at the State Veteran’s Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown.
