Anne Helene (Parylak) Stankelis

Anne Helene Stankelis, born on March 14, 1935, in Southington, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025. She was a daughter of John and Ann (Tomkewicz) Parylak and a graduate of Southington High School. On September 6, 1958, Anne married Anthony Stankelis, with whom she spent a wonderful 67 years. As a proud Air Force wife, she supported her husband's 20-year service with strength and dedication. 

In 1974, Anne and Anthony settled into their home in Amston, Connecticut, providing a loving sanctuary for their family for 50 years. Anne was a compassionate woman, a loving wife, and a doting grandmother who found joy in working in her garden, producing countless canned goods that nourished her family and friends. Her beloved German shepherds were often by her side, bringing her relaxation and happiness. 

Anne is survived by her husband, Anthony Stankelis; children, Anthony and husband Mark, son Richard; daughters Anne Badura and husband Joe, Linda Sperry and husband Todd, and Arlene Thompson and husband John; grandchildren James Battistini, Nicole Badura, Cassandra Chand and husband Alex, Ethan Sperry and wife Wendy, and Meghan Park and husband Tim; and great-grandchildren Zoey, Holly, and Sage. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Schilling. In addition to her parents, Anne is predeceased by her brothers John and Paul Parylak.

Anne’s family will be accepting guests on June 29 from 5-7 p.m. at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. A funeral mass will follow on the next morning at 10 a.m. at the Saint Andrew Catholic Church, 128 Norwich Avenue, in Colchester, with burial at the New Saint Andrew Cemetery on Gillette’s Lane.
