ARLENE M. DUMAIS, 84, of Preston CT, passed peacefully on the evening of January 16, 2024. She was born on November 27, 1939, in Norwich Connecticut, the daughter of Warren Norcross and Harriett W. Tracy. In the years following high school, Arlene attended nursing school in Lynn, Massachusetts and upon graduation was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut. Arlene continued to pursue her true passion in the medical field and earned a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Saint Joseph, Hartford, Connecticut. Arlene dedicated her life to a career in the medical profession practicing as an APRN and specializing in mental health wellness. When she wasn’t spending her time helping others at work, Arlene loved going out boating, fishing, and crabbing. Arlene will always be remembered, and missed by all that knew her, especially her beloved family; She is survived by her daughter, Arlene Starke; four grandchildren, and a great granddaughter; in addition to her parents, Arlene was predeceased by her son; Wayne Goodwin. Care of private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester.
