Arlene V. Reith, 75, passed away on September 4, 2024, in Norwich, Connecticut. Born in Brooklyn, New York, graduate of Massapequa High class of 66', Arlene dedicated her life to nurturing her family and her community.
A devoted Christian, mother, and homemaker, Arlene's compassion extended beyond her home into various facets of volunteer work. She was a fervent advocate for Friendship Ministries, where she promoted the spiritual development of youth and adults with intellectual disabilities. Her commitment to inclusion and compassion marked her as a pillar in her community.
Additionally, Arlene was a passionate patient safety advocate for PULSE CPSEA, where she served on local and state advisory boards. Her efforts were focused on representing those with intellectual disabilities, striving to be a voice for the voiceless, and ensuring their safety and well-being.
Arlene's legacy is carried on by her husband of 57 years, Thomas, and their children: Sean (Kimberly), Caleb (Sarah), Ethan (Courtney), Michael, and Timothy, as well as her daughter, Sarah. She was a cherished Nana to Emily, Nathan, Elijah, Juliette, Benjamin and Dominick. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Emilio and Angelina Cascio; her sister, Geraldine Greene; and her son, Gabriel Reith.
Arlene's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and commitment to serving others. Her family and friends will remember her as a beacon of kindness and dedication, impacting everyone she touched.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 4 to 6 PM followed by a Chapel service at 6 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, Colchester, CT. Burial will take place on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 1 PM at Calverton National Cemetery 210 Princeton Boulevard Calverton, NY 11933.
