Arthur Holmes Lyon, more fondly known as Art, of Lebanon, passed away on September 21, 2022 at Hartford Hospital. He was 89 years old. Born on June 10, 1933 in Norwich, CT, he was a son of the late Arthur J. Lyon and Mary “Molly” (Holmes) Lyon. Art grew up in Plainfield, CT, attended Plainfield public schools and in particular, enjoyed business classes at Plainfield High School. Art married Nancy Dodge on April 25, 1953 and the couple settled in Lebanon on the Lyon Stonehouse poultry farm where they made their home and raised their family. Nancy predeceased him on June 10, 2010. In addition to working the poultry farm, Art also worked for the Town of Lebanon and was a truck driver for Agway for many years. He was a member of the Lebanon Grange and attended church with his family at the Lebanon Baptist Church. Art joined the Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department in 1966 and held the position of Captain, 1st assistant Chief, and was Chief from 1977-1978. Early in his life, Art loved going to Portage Lake in Maine where he fished every Memorial Day weekend with his fishing buddies, eventually buying a cabin on Portage Lake which was his and Nancy's pride and joy. Art also was an avid train collector. Most importantly, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and friend to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his companion, Antoinette Willard, with whom he made his home; his children, John and his wife Sue Lyon of Lebanon, Molly and her husband Donald Lathrop of Bozrah; four grandchildren, Heather, Nathaniel, Bonnie and Jacob; two great grandchildren, Levi and Nora; and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to his wife Nancy and his parents, Art was predeceased by a son, Peter, a grandson, Jason, and his brother Frederick G. Lyon. Funeral Services for Mr. Lyon will be held on Saturday, October 29th at 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Lebanon, 694 Trumbull Highway, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Plainfield. Donations in his memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Lebanon or to the Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department.
