Barbara Anne (Hurd) Bogert

Barbara Anne Bogert, age 80, of Colchester, passed away at home on May 11, 2021, after a long illness.  She was born in Bennington, VT on November 7, 1940, a daughter of the late Forrest and Alma (Maloney) Hurd.  Barbara married her beloved husband, William Bogert on December 31, 1975.  She was a devoted family woman who took great pride in her home and where gardening was a favorite pastime.  She also enjoyed family vacations in Rhode Island and going to the beach.  More importantly, she was ever devoted to her husband, children, and grandson, putting them above all else and dedicating her life to them.  Barbara will be remembered for her kind and unselfish ways.  She will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by her husband Bill, of 45 years; her children, Roger and his wife Maria Kost of Columbia, Cindy Kost of Colchester; a treasured grandson, Aaron Kost; five siblings, Danny Hurd of Burlington, William Hurd, John Hurd and Jim Hurd, all of FL, Jeannie Salim of Waterbury; and numerous extended family members and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three siblings, Robert Hurd, Pat Rusin and BettyLou Hurd.  A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 27th at 12 noon at the State Veteran’s Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown.  The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements.  In keeping with Barbara’s love of animals, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to the ASPCA www.secure.aspca.org/donate For online condolences, please visit www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com
