Barbara Jean (Thomas) Stepien

Barbara Jean Stepien, age 68, of Marlborough, passed away on Saturday, December 12th at Middlesex Hospital, following a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Hartford on August 18, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Americus & Ruth (Waterman) Thomas.

As a young woman, Barbara met Joseph Stepien who quickly swept her off her feet; the couple married on June 15, 1974 and made their home in Hartford. In 1984, the couple moved to Marlborough, where they have resided ever since. Barbara worked as a bookkeeper for over 30 years at Acme Auto Supply and worked for CT Fair Plan for another 18 years until her retirement just a few weeks ago. She was a communicant of Saint John Fischer Church.

Barbara loved to be outdoors; she enjoyed gardening, taking walks, and just being surrounded by the beauty & peace of nature. She was an animal lover with an affinity for cats.

In addition to her beloved husband of over 46 years, Barbara will be forever loved and remembered by her brother, Robert Thomas of New Britain; her sister, Arlene Colantuano of New Britain; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members & friends; and her beloved cats, Buddy, Joey & Peek.

Walk through calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 19th from 10:30 am-12:30 pm with a memorial service at 1pm at the St. John Fisher Church in Marlborough, 30 Jones Hollow Rd, Marlborough, CT 06447.
