Barbara Oelkuct Wilson, 92, of Salem, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021. Born March 23, 1929 in Hartford, Connecticut; she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Lillian (Neill) Oelkuct. Barbara was a graduate of Bulkeley High School, and later went to obtain her nursing degree from Ona M. Wilcox School of Nursing. She married her husband, the late Stanley Wilson, in 1950. The couple raised their family in Niantic before moving to Salem in 1968. They shared 68 years of marriage together, until he predeceased her in 2019. Barbara worked as a registered nurse at Hartford Hospital until her retirement in 1985. During her career she had the honor of working on the first cardiac intensive care unit. She will be forever loved and remembered by her children Katherine (Arthur) Clauson, Joanne (William) Ouimette, and Douglas (Maryann) Wilson; brother Clayton (Linda) Oelkuct, Jr., and sister Elizabeth (Barney) Miller; grandchildren Neil (Kate) Clauson, Faith (Nick Traggis) Clauson, Jeffrey (Kerri) Wilson, Gregory (Laurie) Wilson, and Melanie (Tony) Mendoza; great grandchildren Avery, Brooke, Riley, Ryan, Chloe, Travis and Addison; and numerous other extended family and friends. Care of private arrangements have been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home.
