Benjamin Edward Adam Phelps, II, of Hebron, passed away on February 16, 2023 at the West Hartford Rehab Center where he had recently been residing. He was 64 years old. Born on October 20, 1958 in Hartford, a son of the late Benjamin and Virginia (Thurston) Phelps. He grew up in East Hartford and graduated from High School there. He then went on to Loomis Chaffee Prep School and finally attended Eastern CT State College. Ben was very active in sports, in particular baseball and football during his school years. He married his beloved wife, Candace Blasko on June 25, 1982. The couple settled in Hebron where they made their home and raised their family. Ben was a communicant at Church of the Holy Family where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired several years ago due to his declining health. During his career he was a successful Sales Representative for a building supply company. In his spare time, Ben was an avid bowler and loved to spend time with his family. He will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by his wife, Candace; a son, Adam Phelps of Florida; a brother Lawrence and his wife, Joanne Phelps of Windsor; sisters, Catherine Phelps and her partner, Christine Neurath of Windsor, Susan McAuliffe of Tolland, Priscilla and her husband Jim Madden of Berlin, NH; his two beloved dogs, Holly and Haley; and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Melissa Phelps, a brother, Leewood Shaw, and a brother-in-law, Donald McAuliffe. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 20th from 4 – 6 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 21st at 10 AM directly at the Church of the Holy Family, 185 Church St. Hebron, followed by burial in New Hebron Cemetery.
