Bryan Lewis Obituary

Bryan Hull Lewis, 74, of Amston, passed away at Hartford Hospital on March 11, 2024, after a prolonged illness.

Born in Hartford on February 20, 1950, Bryan was the beloved son of the late Earl Ray Lewis, Jr., and Elisabeth Lewis. After graduating from Hall High School in West Hartford, he earned his bachelor's degree from Clarkson University in Business & Industrial Design. He served for many years in the printing industry as a Print Estimator for several companies, including Van Way & Webb Co., Allied Printing, and Thames Printing. He was a talented and conscientious estimator—known for his expertise and skill in his productions for clients—and even taught print estimation briefly at the University of Hartford.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Bryan was a true family man. The quintessential husband, father and grandfather, he dedicated his life to supporting and encouraging those closest to him. Bryan’s thoughtful, soft-spoken nature endeared him to so many who were lucky enough to know him. He read voraciously, enjoyed a great game of chess or a challenging crossword puzzle, and found great peace working on his cars. He loved to cook and was renowned for his legendary bread-baking abilities. In retirement, he eagerly developed a knack for fixing old clocks, particularly cuckoo clocks.

Bryan’s pride in life was always with his family and he cherished the quiet moments spent with his wife, Anne, and all the wonderful memories shared with his sons, Tom and Paul. He was a kindhearted, generous soul who will always be remembered and eternally loved.

Bryan is survived by his loving wife, Anne B. Lewis; his two sons, Thompson “Tom” Lewis and his wife, Caitlyn, and Paul Lewis and his wife, Kathy; his brother, Earl “Skip” Lewis III and his wife, Barbara; his cherished grandchildren, William, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Kelly, and Gabrielle; and many dear friends. Bryan’s family would also like to thank the Hartford Hospital ICU team that fought so hard to save Bryan and the hospice staff for their tender care of him in his final days.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on April 27, 2024, at the Gilead Congregational Church, 672 Gilead St., Hebron, CT 06248. A private burial ceremony will take place at the church’s Garden of Remembrance. To celebrate Bryan’s life, guests are kindly asked to wear the color blue to the memorial service.
