Celeste Green Obituary

Celeste L. Green, age 90, of East Haddam, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 18, 2020, reuniting to hold hands once again with her husband Bud who passed away on March 20th after 72 years of marriage.

Born in Hartford, CT on April 28, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Theresa Trivigno. Family was the most important thing in Celeste’s life. Look out if you ever made a bad comment about any of her children or grandchildren! They all meant the world to her. Celeste spent countless hours watching her children/grandchildren at many athletic events, horse shows, dance recitals; you name it and she was there.

Celeste was a fabulous seamstress and quilter. She worked for many years at Levine and Levine in Colchester, at Go Fly A Kite and for Studio Z Leather in East Haddam in various sewing capacities. She spent countless hours over the years stitching quilts for all of her children and grandchildren, gifts that they will always cherish and remember her for.

Celeste was also an avid UCONN Men’s and Women’s Basketball fan and enjoyed any opportunity to attend a game in person.

Celeste will be forever missed but remembered with love by her four daughters and their spouses, Terri and David Felgate, Chris and Ed Wollschleager, Carleen and Bill Quinn, and Cookie and John Gowac; her sister Mary Hoover, 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Cochran, Karla(Tim) Kress-Boyle, Kelly (John) Ryder, Kayse (Eben) Kress-Blanchard, John “JJ” Gowac Jr, Anna Quinn (Derrick Tromza), Kim Gowac (Tim Tulloch), Ellen (Jonathan) Rose, Jonathan and Jamie Wollschleager; 26 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who were all very special to Celeste. She will also be missed by her loving cat, “Kitty Cat” who never left her side right to the end. Celeste was a parishioner at Grace and Truth Bible Chapel in Moodus. A service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 am at the Chapel on Monday, October 26th. The Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Connecticut or the Connecticut Humane Society.
