Charles Perry Crandall, III “Charlie” age 70, of Lisbon, CT passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Backus Hospital. Born June 30, 1951 in Westerly, Rhode Island; he was a son of the late Charles P. Crandall II and Katherine McGuire Crandall. Charlie grew up in Pawcatuck CT and attended Saint Michaels, Stonington High School, and Thames Valley Technical College. He was an athlete growing up and played baseball, football, ran track and took up golf, which he continued to play well into his 60’s. In 1987 he married his wife, Jennifer Crowley who he loved more than life itself. He started his career as a Draftsman at General Dynamics and transitioned to CAD, retiring from there after 34 years. He was a very passionate sports fan and had an encyclopedic knowledge of statistics; many friends and family members would say he missed his calling as a sports analyst. He was an avid bird watcher and adored his two golden retrievers Cijay and Harbor. He and Jennifer loved traveling to Maine, particularly Boothbay Harbor, the Cape, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket islands. He was always the happiest when he was surrounded by the company of his dear friends and family, enjoying good food and glass of wine (or favorite Tanqueray and Tonic). He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Jennifer Crandall; his nephew Dustin Bell, who was like a son to him; mother-in-law and father-in-law Albert and Suzanne Sousa; mother-in-law MT Clark and his late father-in-law Wayne Crowley. Along with numerous other extended family members and very special friends. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother John Crandall. Care of private arrangements has been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association www.heart.org or to the Kidney Foundation www.kidney.org. Charlie’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the medical staff of Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the Intervention Radiology team who were like a second family to him, and to the staff and amazing nurses of Norwich DaVita Dialysis Clinic. They would like to express their tremendous gratitude to Dr Brian Cambi, Dr Jennifer Sutherland, Dr George Ouellette and Dr Gregory Azia. Along with his visiting nurse David and physical therapist Melissa from Masonicare. Services will be held privately. For online condolences, please visit www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com
