Clara Margaret O’Brien of Amston, passed away on November 16, 2022 at Hartford Hospital due to a terminal illness. Clara was born on March 11, 1958, the daughter of Sara (De Francesco) LeSage of Amston. Clara married her beloved husband David P. O’Brien on December 29, 1990. The couple made their home in the Amston section of Hebron and raised their family there. Clara had a 44 year long and successful career as a Nurse. She also held a master’s degree in health care administration which started her 28 year long career at Starling Physicians Eye Center in New Britain. She was an active member of her community serving with many boards and commissions in Hebron, including the Board of Selectmen from 2015 – 2019, Board of Assessment Appeals from 2003 – 2015, Chairman for the Board of Finance from 2006 – 2010, Water Pollution Control Authority from 1997 and is currently the Chairman since 2003, Capital Improvement Program from 2015 – 2019, and member of the Republican Town Committee from 2004 – 2006 and 2010 – 2020. Clara will be remembered fondly and with love for her dedication to her family, her faith, and her community. Her loss will be mourned by many who’s lives she touched but especially by her husband of 32 years, David; her mother, Sara LeSage; her triplet children, Megan O’Brien of Amston, Sean O’Brien of Windsor, Kyle O’Brien of Rocky Hill; three brothers and spouses, Alfred (Isabella) LeSage of Wolcott, Brian (Katherine) LeSage of Burlington, Denis (Lisa “Monique”) LeSage of Johnson City, TN; very special friends, Kathy Shea, Maggie Sweeney, Karen Cookish and Susan Zottola; and many extended family members and friends. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 26th at 10:00AM at the Church of the Holy Family, Church St. Hebron. Burial will be private. The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements. Clara respected the Eye Center Physicians and was very proud of her staff. Being a Nurse, Clara was passionate about the care and well-being of her patients. She understood that no matter how hard the Physicians try, certain eye diseases still cannot be cured. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clara’s memory may be made to the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Clara’s oncology Physicians, Dr. Heather Einstein, Dr. Paul Vignati and the entire staff at Hartford Hospital for their compassionate care.
