Clifford Walden Obituary

Clifford Edward Walden, age 88, of Oakdale, peacefully passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Born in East Haddam on January 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Albert and Gladys (Minor) Walden. As a young man, Clifford met and fell in love with Rosina “Rose” Fox; they were married on November 22, 1952 and began their family shortly after. Through the years, Cliff worked as a skilled builder of many local homes and bridges to support his family. He was an avid outdoorsman, a musician, and a farmer. After retirement, Cliff and Rose traveled the country together with their CT Nutmeg Winnebago Club friends. He was a member of Grange 56 and Carpenters’ Union 43. In addition to his wife of over 67 years, Cliff is survived by his son, David Walden; his daughter, Lois Walden; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Mellon. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the first responders of Oakdale and Montville for their assistance and care over the years.

A private memorial service will be held in the Spring at Cliff’s final resting place in Fox Family Cemetery. The Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com
