Daniel John Hogan
(August 27, 1951 – May 9, 2026)
Daniel John Hogan, fondly known as Dan/Danny, of Amston, CT, and Fort Myers, FL, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, unexpectedly, surrounded and supported by his loving family. He was 74 years old.
Dan was born on August 27, 1951, in New Haven, CT, the son of John and Mary (Moriarty) Hogan. On August 4, 1973, he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Pamela Viviani, with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage.
Dan and Pamela moved frequently in their early years before ultimately settling in Norwich, where they raised their family. He took great pride in his home and was an avid gardener with a true green thumb, especially when it came to flowers and shrubs.
Dan was deeply committed to education, both as a student and throughout his professional life. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University, went on to earn his master’s degree from the University of Connecticut, and later completed his sixth-year degree from Saint Joseph’s College. He also made history as the first male to graduate from Saint Joseph College.
Dan devoted 39 years to a distinguished career in education. He began as a special education teacher, then a kindergarten teacher, and went on to serve as an administrator and Director of the Webb Kindergarten Center in Wethersfield, CT. His dedication to students and families left a lasting impression on the community. In recognition of his contributions, Dan was honored as the Wethersfield Man of the Year.
In his youth, Dan embraced life with a sense of adventure and curiosity. He attended the historic Woodstock Music & Art Festival in 1969, an experience he often spoke of with great fondness. Immersed in the music, camaraderie, and spirit of the era, Woodstock reflected Dan’s lifelong love of connection, joy, and celebration—qualities that remained evident in the way he lived his life and brought people together.
Dan lived life fully and joyfully. He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge in Willimantic, CT, where he formed many lasting friendships that became an important and supportive part of his life. He also loved traveling to Florida after his retirement and built a wide circle of friendships during that time.
He will be remembered as a devoted and loving family man, a loyal friend, and someone whose heart was larger than life. Known for his unique sense of humor, Dan had a way of bringing laughter to every room and was truly the life of the party. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
In addition to his parents, Dan was predeceased by his in-laws, Joseph and Mary (Capasso) Viviani, as well as many beloved aunts and uncles from the Hogan, Viviani, Moriarty, McKeon, and Pyne families.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela; his sons, Jonathan Hogan and his wife Kristen of Colchester, CT, and Christopher Hogan of Colchester, CT; his grandchildren, Chase Hogan, Kaitlyn Hogan and her husband Quentin Duperry, and Amber Bennard; and his great-grandchildren, Carter, Cooper, and Mackenzie. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Andrea Hogan of Northford and their son Justin; his sister, Maureen (Hogan) Roth and her husband Paul of Bethany and their children Meghan and her husband Marc, and Eric and his wife Kristin; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester, on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Calling hours will take place from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, a memorial service at 4:30 PM at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life reception will follow at 5:30 PM at the Elks Lodge, 198 Pleasant St., Willimantic, CT. for all to attend.
