Darlene Victoria Wasylishyn, fondly known as Vicki, passed away peacefully at her home on August 5, 2025. She was 67 years old. Her final moments were filled with love, with a close friend by her side and her family nearby.
Born on September 20, 1957, in Willimantic, CT, Vicki was the daughter of the late William and Amelia (Orzulak) Wasylishyn. Raised on a working farm in Lebanon, she graduated from Lyman Memorial High School in 1975 and earned her bachelor’s from Central Connecticut State University.
Vicki was a retired union carpenter with Local 43 in Hartford. When the Millwright Council was formed, she transitioned into working on machinery. Ceative at heart, she had worked as a movie set decorator for a short but enjoyable time.
She was known for her independence, curiosity, and zest for life. Vicki was a skilled gardener who found joy in tending to her flowers, vegetables, and outdoor spaces. Always up for an adventure, Vicki found joy in beach days, road trips, kayaking, photography, and chasing sunsets. She was an avid learner and an information-seeker who never lost her youthful spirit.
A devoted dog lover, she shared many years with her loyal companion Rascal and was also a trusted sitter for Fidelco guide dogs.
Vicki’s greatest devotion was to her family. She was a beloved aunt and sister, a steady caregiver, and a constant presence through life’s celebrations and challenges alike. She never missed a birthday or special occasion, always remembering her loved ones with a thoughtful card or message. Her strength, kindness, and companionship will be missed deeply and remembered always.
She is survived by her brothers, James and Steven Wasylishyn; her nieces, Erica Hanway (Harper), Stephanie Wasylishyn, and Angela Rangel (Adrian); and her great-nieces and nephews, Maxx Roche, Stephanie Valenzuela, Riley Brown, and Benson Hanway. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents, Vicki was predeceased by her beloved life-partner Bryan Morrisett, brother William Wasylishyn, sisters Dawn and Debra Wasylishyn, sister-in-law Gail Wasylishyn, and her niece Heidi Wasylishyn.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at New Lebanon Cemetery, Waterman Road, Lebanon followed by a luncheon at Roberto’s Log Cabin. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vicki’s memory may be made to the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation at www.fidelco.org.
