David Bulson Obituary

David Paul Bulson, age 78 of Lebanon, passed away on September 28, 2021 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital after a sudden illness.  Born on December 12, 1942 in Austin MN, he was a son of the late Maurice and Alice (Schmidt) Bulson.  Raised in Minnesota, David graduated from High School and joined the Navy in 1963. He served in the Vietnam War and retired in 1983 as a Fire Ballistics Chief in the Submarine Service. He currently is a member of the American Legion, Post 54, Colchester.  After active duty, David went on to work as a Technology Instructor at the Data Institute, Tech Careers Institute, CPI College, and Thames River College.  He also retired several years ago from the State of CT, working with computers for the CT Judicial Branch.  David married his beloved wife, Sandra (Downer) on August 23, 1980.  The couple moved to Lebanon where they made their home and enjoyed 41 years together.  David, with his wife Sandy, were very active with the Good Sam’s Club and they were the State Directors for 14 years.  David was a member of the First Spiritualist Church of Willimantic where he was Treasurer and a member of the NSAC, and the Pine Grove Spiritual Camp in Niantic.  Whether camping, deep sea fishing, hunting or riding his Harley motorcycle, David loved spending time in the outdoors.  He was also a tech wizard, who enjoyed all types of electronic gadgets and widgets. David will be remembered by those closest to him as a kind man, a “Gentle Giant” with a wonderful smile and a great sense of humor.  His loss will be felt by many, but he will be sadly grieved and always remembered with love by his wife, Sandy Bulson; his children and their spouses, Christine (Dennis) Johnson of Cloquet, MN, Stephanie (Lawrence) Schubitzke of Carlton, MN, Patrice (Christopher) Langlee of Duluth, MN; Siblings and their spouses, Jim and Linda Bulson, Larry and Leslie Bulson. Rick Bulson, Pat and Keith Ogden, Linda and Rodney Haugen; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Saralee, Dylan, Michelle, Sarah, Anna, Gage, Jenna, Ryan, Jory, and Holly; twenty great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, Jeffrey and a brother, Roger Bulson.  A celebration of David’s life will be held on Saturday October 2, 2021 at 11:00 am for an outdoor service directly at the First Spiritualist Church of Willimantic, 268 High Street Willimantic 06226. Please bring chairs and park in the Eastern College lot.  Service will be followed by a Potluck luncheon.  Donations in his memory may be made to his church.  Burial will be in the New Lebanon Cemetery at a later date.  The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements.  For online condolences, please visit www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com
