David Edward Walden

David Edward Walden of Oakdale, passed away after a brief illness on July 27, 2023, at L & M Hospital in New London.  He was 64 years old.  David was born in Middletown on October 2, 1958.  He was the son of the late Clifford and Rosina (Fox) Walden.  David grew up and remained throughout his lifetime on the Fox family farm in Oakdale.  He loved the farm where he helped his parents with livestock, haying, and growing vegetables which were sold at their farm stand.  He also worked for many years as a Carpenter with Union 43, Local 326 in East Haddam.  David was an avid fisherman, spending any free time he could spare with a line in the water.  He will be remembered as a hard-working man, gruff in nature but super caring with an open home and an open heart.  He will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by his children, Stephanie Walden-Kirk of Norwich, Mitchell Walden-Kirk of Oakdale; a sister, Lois Walden of Waterford; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Susan Mellon.  There will be a celebration of his life and burial in the Fox family cemetery at a later date to be announced.  The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements.  To sign the online guest book or share a memory of David, please visit www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com
